What is our Mission Statement?
Our mission is to Promote Joy. To promote happiness. To rediscover the imagination. To allow people to have a pause in their day and ponder.
What is our return policy?
Art sales are final.
Tee shirts and merchandise can only be returned if there is a manufacturing defect. Since the merchendise is printed to order we cannot accept returns on sizing issues (unless for example, you order a small and receive a medium, or the tag says large and its not actually a large). I have provided size charts with each item, so please take the time to measure yourself. As they say in the wood shop, measure twice and cut once. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions regarding my return policy.
Where do we source our wood?
Figured pieces are harvested from fallen trees around the globe and also locally sourced in the woods and beaches near our home.
Why do we use burlwood?
Aside for its beautiful and irregular figure, burl can be harvested without harming the tree. Burl will regrow thus making it one of the most sustainable options in woodworking. Australia happens to have the most diverse varieties of Eucalyptus— all of which are incredibly hard, stable and stunning.
What is burlwood?
A burl is a strange-looking collection of tree cells, which are called callus tissue.
Normally, callus tissue is formed by a tree in response to an environmental injury such as a pruning cut, disease, or insect damage. In forest settings, callus often arises from storm damage that has eroded away or deposited more soil around the tree’s trunk.
A typical example of callus is the tissue that rolls or closes over the edges of a good pruning cut to seal off the wound.
Burls develop similarly, as a protective response, but are:
found around tree trunk bases or where branches have broken off
found in underground tree tissue (where they are called lignotubers)
not regulated by the same tree chemicals as callus growth, so they grow into bizarre shapes
Do we accept wood donations?
Absolutely. Please feel free to reach out!
Do we take custom orders?
Not at this time. We will make an announcement if this changes in our news letter, so please sign up!
How come there aren’t more organic choices for tee shirts?
I have searched for a quality organic cotton tee that is available for print on demand and I haven’t been able to find one that I feel is worth representing my brand. I will keep searching because it is something I would like to offer.
How long does it take to receive an item from the shop?
It can take a week or two. Each item is made to order and that takes a bit of time. The benefit of this process is that there is a very low footprint. This means there is zero waste. If you order different products they may be printed and shipped from different facilities and arrive separately at different times. You will receive notifications regarding when the items are sent to production, when they are shipped and when they arrive. We appreciate you very much for your patience. If you are planning on ordering gifts for the holidays or special occasions we recommend ordering at least a month in advance just to make sure you receive your item on time.
